Hello there!
I'm currently a full-time student at the University of Chicago, studying Visual Art and Fundamentals in undergrad (you can click the link to learn more about Fundamentals, but the gist is that you choose a question to study and design your own circulum within the humanities to answer said question. My current question is: "What is the purpose of beauty?").
As of late I work 2 part-time "jobs". I am a barista!! (and soon to be financial manager) at a student-run coffee shop and I "DJ" part-time for my school's radio-station. (I play every Monday at 10am [CST] if you wanna give me a listen. New time slot!) In June, I will be working to curate an art/muesuem exhibit for my school's "Special Collections". It is my current dream to either go into academia as a professor of art/humanities or become a museum curator.
In my free-time I like to make art, write poetry/journal, and code. I enjoy spending time in nature, people watching, mending old clothes, and I am currently trying to teach myself to DJ.
EDIT: The name gothic-hermaphrodite was actually never given to me, I am now learning this after a mutual friend reminded me, but the story of the name is that one of our friends kept drawing these very sad, goth, androgynous people on a whiteboard. I'm not entirely sure, but when they said that name, it stuck with me. I was like wow! this is a perfect description of who I am as a person. Also, I personally feel a connection to this Greek sculpture , the first depiciton of a hermaphrodite I'd ever seen growing up, in a museum. It's still one of my favorite pieces of art of all time, it's very rare I see myself ever depicted in art, culture, or media, that's why it's so precious to me, and also so important for me to make art.
